John F. Schaefer and Claude E. Hart, two brothers-in-law, founded Cooper in 1914 in Akron, Ohio, to manufacture tire patches, tire cement, and tire repair kits. After purchasing The Giant Tire & Rubber Company of Akron, a company that rebuilt tires, Schaefer and Hart soon relocated it to Findlay, Ohio.Cooper’s Global Technical Center, based in Findlay, was founded in 2014 and is a global hub for tire science and technology used all over the world. At our factory outside San Antonio, Texas, Cooper conducts extensive testing in addition to continuously improving our tires.
